We had the pleasure today to visit a family with a beautifully decorated home, complete with a Chapel in one of their downstairs rooms. Have you ever wondered what happens to the church art which is jettisoned from closing convents and wreckovated churches? Some lay people are keen to preserve our patrimony, and this is a beautiful example. I hasten to add the sanctuary lamp was not lit.
On a related note there is a wonderful article on Fisheaters about the Catholic Home as the "Domestic Church".

ReplyDeleteI must agree. Perhaps once my garage is cleared out may I have room for such a beautiful project...
ReplyDeleteA refuge in the end times!
ReplyDeleteIs that a monstrance to the left ?
ReplyDeleteHave you read Marie-Benoit Angel's "The Houses of Adoration" ? St Raphael Publications. (Its an organisation of lay faithful recognized by the church).
This is very encouraging.
I have a relative who is a permanent deacon in Germany and the diocese he's in provides housing for the permanent deacons and their families. His family lives in an old convent and they still have the chapel where they in fact keep the Blessed Sacrament. Imagine bedtime prayers with the children before the Blessed Sacrament? Hard not to be jealous!
