Christmas Presents!

Here's a few things which Santa brought me this year which I thought might be of some interest to Lacrimarum Valle readers:

How to Raise Good Catholic Children
Mary Reed Newland
A thoroughly practical and down-to-earth book written by a Catholic mother. Covering all aspects of bringing up your children to love God and know their Faith, the author tackles even the most delicate issues, such as explaining the facts of life, with a refreshing blend of common sense and humour that all parents will find helpful and reassuring.

Successful Fathers: The Subtle Ways Fathers Mould Their Children's Characters
James B. Stenson
It takes hard work to become a good father, and one of the most formidable obstacles confronting fathers is the difficulty of finding good guidance on fatherhood. This booklet gives men much-needed directions on problems fathers face, and reveals "Twelve Commandments of Successful Fathers": how good fathers raise their children well. Veteran educator James Stenson shows how to defuse adolescent boys' defiance and how to form positive father-daughter relationships. Best of all, he details what fathers must do - and not do - in order to instil religious faith in their children.

Jesu Dulcis Memoria – CD
London Oratory Choir
Meditative music about Our Lord's presence is sung with devotion and brilliance by the London Oratory Choir, whose performances have won high acclaim in the music press. This new release draws the listener into Eucharistic and Devotional pieces by a range of composers. Sponsored by ACN, this recording is bound to inspire the listener. Works include Charpentier's Pange lingua, Ego sum panis vivus by Palestrina, Elgar's O Salutaris Hostia and O Sacrum Convivium by Victoria.

  1. This is a beautiul recording - enjoy it.

Did you know that playing music to the unborn baby (Madeleine) and then playing that same music to Madeleine when she is crying(after birth)will content her.

  2. You'll be happy to know that last night we strapped the fetal speakers to Wendy's abdomen and played "Jesu Dulcis Memoria" directly to Maddy through the stereo. The joys of modern technology!

  5. Mark, I am not able to provide a permlink for that product - but on the ACIN website simply click on "buy online" at the top, then click on "music" on the left sidebar. And Andrew, yes, Maddy prefers London Oratory. She says "my Godfather goes to London Oratory" very proudly!
